Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow ~ Jawaharlal Nehru 

A rose in his pocket, a smile on his face… forever.
That’s how Chacha Nehru was. That’s what children call him even today. For India, today is celebrated as Children’s day.
jawaharlalnehru2It is birthday of our beloved Chacha Nehru, who is actually Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister.
440px-nehru_sweets_oratarians_nongpohHe was born today in 1889. He gave scientific vision to the country by establishing education institutes like AIIMS, Indian Institute of Technology, IIM.

Children’s day is celebrated on various days in many places all over the world : 
1. Major global variants include a Universal Children’s Day on 20 November, by United Nations recommendation.
2. The International Day for Protection of Children is observed in many countries as Children’s Day on 1 June since 1950.
3. In some places Children’s Day also begun on the second Sunday of June in 1856.

आज 1889 में भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरु का जन्म इलाहाबाद में हुआ था। उन्हें 20वीं शताब्दी के सबसे बड़े भारतीय राजनेताओं में गिना जाता है। भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में बड़ी भूमिका निभाने के अलावा, उन्हें आईआईटी जैसे संस्थान शुरू करके उन्होंने देश को वैज्ञानिक नजरिया देने के लिए जाना जाता है। पंडित नेहरू, बच्चों के बीच काफी लोकप्रिय थे और बच्चे उन्हें चाचा नेहरू कहते थे। इसलिए उनके जन्मदिन को बाल दिवस के तौर पर भी मनाया जाता है।
