6 June : Let’s play ‘Tetris’ today – The tile matching puzzle game

  1. Who amongst us would not have played Tetris ? The tile matching puzzle video game was released today in 1984. It was originally designed and programmed by Russian game designer Alexey Pajitnov. He derived its name from the Greek numerical prefix tetra – (all of the game’s pieces contain four segments) and tennis, Pajitnov’s favourite sport.

Tetris’ theme song is a classic—literally. The music that plays during the game is a remake of “Korobeiniki,” a 19th century Russian folk song.

It’s believed that 32 year old this game has the power to improve your health. Playing Tetris can help you lose weight, cut back on drinking, or quit smoking. Playing Tetris can actually increase the thickness of the cortex by up to half a millimeter. The cortex is the part of the brain responsible for memory, attention, perceptual awareness, thought, language and consciousness. Playing Tetris after a traumatic event may reduce the occurrence of negative flashbacks and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Keep enjoying this game today and forever.
